Into the Pit Empty Into the Pit

(I was pretty interested in the Beijian Sandpit area on the other forum, and thought it would be fun to do something based on that concept.)

The sand seemed no different from any other, at least until you reached the the edge. The vast pit began then, the sand caving down as if falling around an invisible cylinder. Of course that drop led to far more then just lower dunes. It was the entrance to my vast and cavernous belly, in which all who fell would be digested as slowly as possible. I could not even move, but had no need to, enough wayward animals and travelers ending up in the area, along with those thrown in intentionally, to fill my vast appetite. Whichever of those categories you fall in, how can you fight something that like this, and can you hope to escape?

((LOL I completely forgot about the Beijian Sandpit on Galiavan  lol! ))

Yoko was trudging through the desert, her long coat waving behind her. There is a sandstorm brewing, and the young Gunslinger covers her mouth and nose with her muffler as she makes her way though it. Slung around one arm is her rifle, while her revolver was held tightly in her holster itself. She keeps walking, hoping she has not yet strayed off the path, when in truth she had been astray for more than twenty minutes. "Damn it...the outpost should be somewhere around here..." her muffled voice states, unsure of which way was right or left.

The distance from the edge of the pit, to it's sharp descent, was small enough that even in optimal conditions, it was possible to slip. But in the sandstorm visibility was reduced to almost nothing, and the sand beneath her feet was barely discernible from the sand in the air! It only got worse as the sand swung around in all directions, blowing to nudge her in random directions. It was not all that major a threat, more of an inconvenience compared to getting lost, but the foot grew slightly more sharp as she neared the edge of the pit, the sand added by the storm rushing down to make the slope even more steep then usual. My mouth was less concerned with the sand, most of it filtering out before reaching the maw beneath.

Yoko keeps walking, her mind telling her that the outpost is right in front of her, while her gut told her to stop and reassess her surroundings. Since trying to reassess in this sandstorm was useless, she kept pushing forwards. "I know...its somewhere aroun-ahh!" she suddenly cried out, her right leg fell into some void, her upper body managing to catch herself before her left leg could follow suit. "Was that a sandpit?" she muttered, slowly pulling out her right thigh from the small sand hole-still unaware of the much larger, and much livelier hole with teeth ahead of where she sat. "That was close, I could have easily broke or twisted my ankle that way..." she gasped, then chuckled, thinking how easy she had it.

The little sandpit wasn't much of a threat, unless of course she knew about what she nearly tripped into. As the sandstorm whipped up more the sand around her feet blew in small tufts, the pit vanishing as it was covered as quickly as it appeared, visibility becoming worse as some of the sand ahead began to spill down towards my mouth, making the already hazardous footing of the rim of the pit even more dangerous, as very little of the sand had solid hold.
