Bastet's Final Pillar - 2 Empty Bastet's Final Pillar - 2

The sandworms burrowed their way beneath the dirt of the desert, their movements only able to be picked up by any seismometers that happened to be in the area, or animals keen enough to pick up their vibrations. Most weren't. And these three were currently hunting a Neko girl that was wandering the sands above. Within moments they'd make their strike. Well...one of them would. Whichever got to her first. Their tentacle-like tongues, each with tiny mouths of their own, slithered within their horned maws, hungrily waiting to pull this tasty morsel beneath the earth and have their way with its meal.

It had been a hard trek in the Gazatine Desert, and Bast had just about enough with this heat that made her body glisten with sweat; the result was her skin was shiny and her throat was feeling parched. Soon she came up to a small oasis and bent down to drink from the natural spring, glad to finally have something to drink.

Listening to the Neko lap up the water from the small spring, the sandworm knew this was its chance to strike. Moving through the wet sand beneath the body of water, it was even more silent than had it come up from the dirt behind her. With her eyes closed, enjoying the refreshing quench of the liquid, she didn't see the tentacle shimmy out from the sand. All she heard was a splash, and before she knew it, the tentacle was around her neck, hissing. She clawed at it, gasping her eyes wide with horror. She didn't think it possible for her eyes to get any wider, but they did, as she watched the rest of the worm rise from the well before her, it's maw open wide and full of teeth. Two other tentacle-like tongues thrashed about, ready to aid in pulling her down the throat that beckoned her, a throat she'd easily fit down in one piece.

Bastet tried to grapple with the beast's tentacles, but had other plans. "N-nyahhh!" she cried out, reaching for her sickle sword and used it to cleave the tentacle that was around her neck. She backed up, choking and wheezing, holding her blade with two hands while continuing to side step away from the beast. Her eyes full of heated determination, she would not lose to such an animal.
