Outskirts of Jemial City Empty Outskirts of Jemial City

Post  Kay-Tor Mon Jun 08, 2015 8:03 pm

The large demon plowed his way down the Ithteca path, and wasn't too far off from Roughland, which was now clearly in sight! His 'breakfast' was hardly moving inside now, he guessed she'd be all but digested by the time he got to his destination; the strenuous activity of sprinting to Danton was helping his stomach muscles work again, and they were slowly waking up after his several years slumbering. He rampaged his way through the mountain side, and when the City got within range, he diverted away from the trail. Though he was sure he could very well handle himself against the hicks of Roughland to the point where he could very well level the town to dust if he willed to put forth the effort; but he wanted to get to Danton City without halt or hitch in his plans. He leaps off the trail, his large claws grinding into the earth before he dove down, arms ahead of him like a diver, and then the demon had slipped into the earth, as if he had become dirt and rock himself. A large bulge traveled beneath the dirt and gravel of the path, and it rolled it's way through the city's streets above.

Outskirts of Jemial City Empty Re: Outskirts of Jemial City

Post  Mink Mon Sep 14, 2015 5:48 pm

Mink continued towards the outskirts, weapon in hand. There was nothing but the rocky terrain and loose sand and soil and a stretch of desert and wasteland as far as the eye could see. She kept vigilant, however, and slowly and cautiously made her way down the slope of a small rocky hill, keeping her eyes trained for any signs of the beast. She spotted a scrap of clothing between two boulders and quickly realized the fabric was new. "The scream I heard... so she was dragged away?" she thought, noting the scrap as frilly lace from that of a dress. She readied herself for the worst and continued on her search for missing woman and the unidentified attacker.

Outskirts of Jemial City Empty Re: Outskirts of Jemial City

Liri's trinkets clinked as she walked along the dusty road leading into Jemial; a remote settlement that looked like the scenery from a gunslinger melodrama. Dirt roads, plank walks instead of concrete sidewalks, rickety old timber houses and even a big saloon! She heard of its nasty reputation, but the nineteen year old was self assured in her own protection. She smirked at the prospect of setting up her wares, getting herself just a bit of chump change before she'd head up into the mountains, and go to the Capital. She heard a lot of weird things about the Gorge and the city itself as of late, but paid such things no mind as she enters the town toting her traveling backpack behind her and using her rod as support as she climbed the rocky terrain into Jemial proper.

An ornate cart pulled by four large, black mountain horses rolled up the rocky road to Jemial, when the occupant tells the driver to stop. The golden cart, lined with all multitudes of precious metals in intricate designs came to a full halt beside the wandering young lady. The door opens, and presented to her is a man dressed in fine purple silks, and ornate jewels. "May I offer you a lift young miss?" The man asked, staying in the shade of his cart. The interior was just as luxurious, cool and lined with plush fabric perfect for sitting on in this harsh terrain. He was a portly figure, short and balding but had long red hair hanging off the back of his head and a bushy, slightly waxed mustache. "Please, as Jemial's Mayor, I insist. One such as yourself should not trek the rocky terrain on foot, those poor feet of yours will suffer such painful sores, not to mention there are snakes and scorpions that like to hide under said rocks Miss." He added.

Liri could hear the cart rolling up before it even appeared. She turned out of curiosity, to the large carriage which now rolled to a halt. She blinked her large brown eyes at the somewhat tacky yet opulent cart when its door opened, revealing a portly fellow who offered her a ride, and had introduced himself as the leader of the city she was headed towards. "Wha...?" She blinked, looking him over. "O-oh, Oh?! The mayor you say? Hah! Well thank you for the offer, but its not too far from here Mr. Mayor. I don't want to trouble you for only a few more feet up the road!" She chuckled. She got an odd vibe off him, yet at the same time she was planning on setting up shop for a brief while around here, so being on friendly terms with the Mayor could be beneficial to her.

She let the idea linger a little, while basking in the cool air radiating from the carriage.

He chuckled heartily. "Well I don't want to have the trouble of walking a few more feet into my town! A lady shouldn't have to walk in this godless desert. I can give you a tour of the town if you like and drop you off at the Rose Thorne Pub and Inn, the center of our little community." he suggested. Glancing her over he noticed the medical bag and the poultices hanging off her hips and raised a brow. "I don't mean to pry, but you wouldn't happen to be a merchant, would you?" He smiled.

"Well..." She trailed off, not sure if she really wanted to ride with him. She got an oddly creepy vibe from him... then he mentioned about her wares. She followed his sight to her medical equipment and the bottles and vials hanging off her hip. "Oh, these? Yes... haha quite astute of you. I studied at Shokuji in the arts of modern alchemy and potions, partly the reason why I came out this way." She explained, unable to keep her lid shut when it came to her craft. "I'm hoping to set up shop around Jemial for a little while, till I find a place that best suits my role, but till that day its the wandering road for me." She giggles.

With this revelation Mayor Todd smiled warmly. "That so! Well, by the Twelve, we of Jemial are in great hands! You see, we recently lost track of our only medical professional- hard to come by a skilled physician who actually wants to take the hike out to Jemial these days, never mind an educated professional!" He snorted with glee. "I implore you to stay with our community for a little while, I'll even help you set up shop! I used to be a merchant myself before I became mayor of this fine city!" He chortled, before offering her a hand. "Mayer Todd, hehe, but you can call me Todd young lady!" He explained. "Hop on in, and I'll help you set up shop, get the permits in order, and that sort of thing! By Corveyus' luck, we have ourselves a proper medical professional!"

Liri took a moment to consider... and it wasn't like she was defenseless. "...sure, you twisted my arm enough!" She chuckled, pulling herself up into the carriage where it was cool and comfy, taking a seat opposite of the Mayor. "Thanks, Mayor Todd." She chuckled.

Post  Mayor Todd Wed Oct 16, 2019 7:29 pm

The Mayor closed the doors after she was settled in, and chuckled. "Really, just Todd! I insist!" He explained, as he taps the roof of the carriage to alert the driver. With a lurch, the whole carriage began to move forwards again. "I hate to get straight to business with you miss, but tell me of your credentials?" He asked, before placing a hand up to pause her. "Before that, realize you are not being recorded or anything, and this will all remain confidential between us both. So if you are... lacking in some files, but have the proper experience, I am willing to look past some things like that." He explains. "We are really in a dire need of a medical professional, given our only doctor, Miss Duskcrest seemed to have vanished. She was involved with some rather shady people, so I was afraid something like this would have happened in time." He says, with a sigh, then looks up at her, opening his eyes and looked a little nervous. "Not that you should feel worried! What ever has befallen Dr. Rue Duskcrest was her own doing, and my only regret is being unable to convince her to leave that shadowy life behind..." He says with a frown. "You don't have any troubles where you last came from, do you my dear?" He asked.

"Heh... okay, Todd." she chuckled, before he dropped the odd circumstances which befell her potential predecessor. She blinked. "Woah... well I..." She blinked again, unsure how to follow up. "...No, got nothing to hide. I graduated from Shokuji as I mentioned, and since then been on the road. No troubles other than finding a stable place to rent out to make a shop." She replied, chuckling nervously. "I am not a doctor, but my mother was an apothecary so I know my way around medicines and some medical aid." She explained.

He chuckled. "Ah I see, then there's nothing to worry about! You're hired!" He raised his arms and clapped both her hands and shook them excitedly. "Jemial City welcomes you with open arms!" He chuckled amiably, hitting the roof of the carriage soon after. "Driver, take us to the place! It shall henceforth be in the possession of our young Apothecary here!" He explained. The driver seemed confused, given the city wasn't too big... and thus, their original route to the Bar was unchanged. Todd blushed, and turned to her with a smile. "Forgive me my dear, but in my excitement for a new medical professional I seem to have forgotten your name, what was it again?" He asked.

"What? A-are you sure? I mean, I just came off the beaten path into your town, such an honor isn't deserving for someone like me!" She blinked, having not realized this till he brought it up. "Oh, I never said. I'm Liri Rheneria Mister Ma-er, Todd." She corrected herself, giggling as he excitedly shook her hands.
