The winds blow harshly, the sand kicking up obscuring the woman who seemed to appear out of thin air stood on the ridge overlooking the far reaches of the old Gaildeno Region... with the towering half destroyed mountain in the distance visible for miles. "My... what a dark wind howls..." The woman speaks, smirking, showing off her dainty fangs. "Such an inky black void can be felt from every part of the planet I'd take it... by the by, I suppose it must be stirring the hearts of man and beast alike this very moment..." She whispered, licking her lips. "Oh... this will be delicious indeed...~" The woman laughed, cackling harshly as the dark winds howl... and she soon vanishes with it... only her cackle carrying on the wind towards Mount Risa...

The edge of the Timeless Desert... File

Lieutenant Maria Embermoon, the Void Witch and a member of Gilded Tree, Fenira's elite warriors trained in conventional and advanced magics, effectively making the lot of them a mix of Red Mages and Dark Knights in the traditional sense...

She and the horse she rode on, stood at the crest of a hill overlooking the desert with her 500 soldiers... there were two other teams with a larger force of 2000 and 1500 troops as well, clad in black, red, white... a sizeable force which was not easy sneaking past the ADN, Scardia's and Beijio's suspicious eyes.

Maria called for the Sargent, and awaited her appearance, while her spy glass fell upon the mountain... the vile power she could sense... and was drawn too from her dreams. That shard which she was given, embedded into her chest by the Commander made her feel invincible... but, it was also giving her an odd vibe. She felt as though she was a plant with a seed, which even when eaten was still of use, for the seed would pass on unscathed... she at times felt, like the plant... staring up at that mountain.

She was a 28 year old Wolf-Kin who had piss poor luck when it came to looking for a husband given her strict, and terrifying demeanor and commitment to her job... a side effect of which she was not happy for. She was also Leiran Dashir's mentor, and had some friends in Beijio and Scardia whom she was sure she was going to end up pissing off given Augusta's order to march on Mount Risa.

Lt. Embermoon turned her attention now to the Sargent. "Sergeant Moonstride..." she began, handing the spyglass to the woman, and pointed towards distant flying objects around Mount Risa. "An old Domescadian fighter plane, a giant bat and an Oni are fighting it out above the sands..." she then pointed to the mountain. "Right there, the glow?" She inquired.

"Strange... its antique, but with some damage aside it looks brand new! Its surprising it's even flying at all." She states. "The bat is humongous... and that oni on its back..." she paused, before turning to the Lieutenant who then pointed for the mountain. Sgt. Moonstride acknowledged this, and redirected her attention to the purple glow at the mountain peak. "What about it? Its a purple glow... they've got party lights strung up in the cave, so what?" She replied incredulously, glancing back to the woman and handed the spyglass back. In truth, Ilsa felt a little perturbed from the entirety of the event in general. They were a military force on foreign soil without permission, about to take on Gods knew what in the formerly mystical and dangerous as the seven hells Galideno Desert. The enemy? She wasn't sure what it was, the briefing wasn't too clear on what exactly they were fighting and why they were going to break treaties and laws to find out. It seemed badly rehearsed, and didn't set well in her stomach...

Ilsa's ears twitched and the horses became unsettled before the blast errupted, giving the Sgt. ample time to pull her commanding officer out of potential danger! "Get down!" She called out, drawing her magic gun blade¹, pulling Maria from her horse onto her own as the world seemed to shake around them! The beam was wide, and would have been devastating had it connected to their line of troops, but as it was a sever number of the other teams camps were just knocked off the face of the earth! "What the ever loving fuck was that?!" Ilsa cried out, almost expecting an answer from one of the grunts, her eyes snapping from them to the mountain, Maria cradled between herself and the horse she was managing so far to keep somewhat calm, while Maria's had trotted off into the desert!

Maria was still in shock by the power of the blast, that it took her subordinate to pull her off her horse before she had been tossed from it! She held onto Ilsa with a blank expression, her crimson eyes glancing up to the Sargent's. "Sgt. Moonstride, I shall have to commend you for your quick thinking should we survive..." she says in a near lifeless tone, before turning her eyes back to the peak. "Muster the rest of the men! WE ATTACK!" She screamed, her voice seeming to pulse with chaotic red energy...

Ilsa didn't look affected, but the minds of the grunts were easily swayed as a red glow from the borrowed dark power from the Karfey Fragments Gilded Tree had been testing with imbedded within Maria's body forced the others to obey her will! It was a death march in the making, as the Feniran troops mustered together, despite the initial decimation, and charged forth headlong into the desert!
