Western Forest
[From here]
Akari and the others had taken a hike into the woods after the gyrocar stopped near the edge of the capital city. Heading into the overgrowth, they would find themselves in either familiar or unfamiliar territory. Akari was used to such environments, being Toeph's number one fetcher of items. "Okay... its not night out yet, so perhaps...Sumi!" She turned to the glowbug. "How about you light yourself up a little? It should draw out the bugs." She says with a smirk.

Sumi was leaning on Ryst, as usual, inspecting her right hand's nails while her left hand cupped her chin, her elbow grinding against Ryst's head. "Hmm... nah, I don't feel like it~" She yawned in response.

Re: Western Forest
Ryst sighed. They were getting no where at this rate, so he shrugs the imp off his head with a gentle swat of his hand and walks over to a brush of greenery. "I'd suggest you get back, Imp..." he says, in a soft tone, as he reached into the foliage and pulled out a leaf. "Hrm..." He steadily creases the leaf with his lips as an anchor, folding the leaf into a sail like shape. "Something one of the 'Blades taught me..." He says, bringing the whistle to his lips, and blew into it. The sound that radiated was a low, buzzing warble that echoed off the trees and bounced into the woodlands around them. It was a call for Fireflies... when he was a Faithbreaker decked out in armor, they'd play something similar to have the bugs illuminate their patrol routes at night...

"WWWWWWWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!"
"WWWWWWWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!"
"WWWWWWWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!"
"WWWWWWWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!"
The sound of snapping branches shakes the surrounding area as a a low rumble starts to approach intermixed with the thunderous barking of a dog speedily approaching.
As the sounds grow louder to an almost deafening height a full sized tree suddenly comes flying out of nowhere straight for Ryst. Several moments later a massive three headed dog uproots numerous trees as it growls a threatening warning upon approaching the three misbegotten shoppers. The astute or daring would find a fourth dog head perched on the tip of the beast tail twice as aggressive as the other three heads.

Re: Western Forest
Sumi blinked at the creature, then at Ryst with a raised brow, then to Akari, then back to the beast again. "Wow, nice firefly call. You know what a firefly actually looks like, right?" She asked the man as she stares at all of the snarling heads ahead of them.

Re: Western Forest
Akari was going to complain to Sumi's lack of cooperation, when the creature appeared. She raised her hammer threateningly, but she doubted that they saw it as such! "Ryst, what the hell did you do?!" She hissed, not wanting to bring the heads on her, while her eyes glanced over to the man expecting a reaction from him.

Re: Western Forest
Ryst blinked at the beast, then back to his leaf whistle. "Huh... I'm a bit rusty it seems... perhaps it was the wrong pitch...?" He seemed more concerned that his call seemed to be off, than the four headed monstrosity snarling in front of them. He checked the shape of the leaf and sighed, throwing it aside and reached for the gun tucked behind his back, under his coat. "Okay... everyone just stay calm and step back slowly... Akari, it will tear you in half if you raise your hammer... don't do that." He called over to the woman, keeping his eyes on the beast growling in front of them.

Re: Western Forest
The roaring of the three and one tail headed dog increased as each head eyed a different person in front of it. Three heads in front one behind fully aware of its surroundings, watched for any movement. The three moved as one in unison each keeping track of one of the three, it's loud barking dying down to a deep soft growl, meant to keep them away.
It's fur went rigid and the head for a tail tip began growling and barking in turns, perhaps eager to be involved, perhaps something else entirely. The three heads in front became dead eyed staring intently at their chosen person moving with each following their movements and preparing to snap if the approached any closer.
One head growled as Ryst reached behind his back for his gun, leaning ever so slightly further toward him eyes a glow in warning about his actions. Words were not need the message should have been clear the beast was not about to let them proceed.

Re: Western Forest
Sumi looks down at the man, with a raised brow. "...this drooling mutt is in front of us, and all you care about is 'your call being off'? Priorities Ryst! Priorities!" She says clapping his cheek, before looking up at the beast. She had an idea how to keep the creature from biting them or being too aggressive, similar to a shock collar fused with a shield. She channeled her energy around the two of them, since she was still on Ryst, she only made the barrier around him and herself a tad more taller and thicker; blue electricity like a forcefield surrounded Akari, Ryst and Sumi. "Okay, that should keep them from wanting to make chew toys out of us, just don't slip any of your body parts outside the barrier!" She commented.

Re: Western Forest
Akari lowered her hammer quickly, her eyes focusing on the odd head on the tail, and looked forlorn about the situation. "A lightning net? Gee. Thanks..." She scowled, realizing her barrier wasn't as bright as the one covering Ryst and Sumi. "I think its best we retreat, and find another way to bring out the fireflies..." She replied.

Re: Western Forest
Ryst paused in his action, letting the grip of the pistol loosen and kept himself from drawing it. He took a slow, quiet step back, even as Sumi smacked his cheek and was speaking to him. Why am I the only one being quiet...? He thought, looking at the creature's body language. It seemed to be eager, defensive... and yet, wasn't being malicious like a hungry dog on the street. It was for the most part, keeping its ground, in odd way looking like it was being protective of them... but he wouldn't go out of his way to try to pet one; he already lost a hand, he didn't need to lose another... "Easy..." he whispered, trying to calm the creature even as Sumi's shields went up. He looked into the eyes of the head that was in front of him, and felt like if it wanted to, it would accept a little shock to thrash them into bloody pieces, so Ryst wasn't so assured by its supposed protective properties just yet...

Re: Western Forest
The reaction was a split second in coming following the ignition of the electrical discharge from Sumi to surround herself and her companions. The fourth head, the one on the tail became frantic barking with a horrific fervor and volume. The other three heads all zeroed in to one of the three. Two heads swiveling eyes to Ryst and Sumi, one to Akari, as the massive dog took two steps forward breathing heavily upon them as first one head, then the next, then the next snapped at their respective target. With each step another snapping bite aimed at one of the three came, again and again, without regard for the electric shock that came when one of it's heads almost nipped the hairs on Ryst head, and another Akari's hammer arm.
Again the beast lurched forward driving it's trifecta of heads closer and closer to the companions as the volume of the fourth head began to reach ear shattered loudness. Always though the dog would shift it's weight and move to block all attempts to get around it.

Sumi watched the snarling mutts with a look of disapproval, waving her hand in front of her face. "Bleh, dog breath really? Cant any beast in the wilds have good breath for a change?" She grumbled, before leaning against Ryst's head, her elbow propped on the middle of his matted hair, and she held her chin with a bored expression. "So, what's the plan now Mr. One-Armed Hero?" She asked, her free hand lazily waving, increasing the amps of her force fields so that the next head that came close yelped from the shock. Sumi smiled, glancing down at Ryst, wondering how he'd answer.

Re: Western Forest
Akari let out a yelp, narrowly avoiding a savage bite from the creature as she pulled back her arm! She looked over to the other two, and was rather pissed off by Ryst's stoicism and Sumi's laidback nature. "Well, hurry! I really don't wanna be this thing's chew toy!" She screamed, her attention back to the dog head snapping at her! She yelped again, and took a half step back.

He remained silent, observing the beasts. "I suggest we retreat," he replied after a long pause. He didn't turn his head away from the beasts, and decided to back away from the creature. "don't turn your back on it, just move back slowly." He explained, calmly.

Re: Western Forest
POP!
A loud earsplitting pop sounds from behind the monstrous dog, followed by constant buzzing, than the most ominous sound of all... Silence of the dog! For a moment as surreal as the proverbial life flashing before ones eyes moment, everything stood stark still for the three unlikely companions on a shopping quest. Fangs and drool closing in on them, loud barking accompanying each snap of the three sets of frontal jaws. And than with a single blood curdling howl of pain and ultimate agony the Tail head of the dog went dead silent. In the same moment the dog stopped moving completely it's heads mere inches from the blazing electrical barrier of Sumi meant to protect.
For a brief moment all seemed peaceful and quiet, quiet all except for the deafening buzzing of a swarm of fireflies. As they found a moment to catch their breathes and attempt to retreat; the source of the buzzing, the fireflies they had come to catch; a single innocent harmless jarful of fireflies burst forth from inside the giant three and a tail headed dog. Blood gushed out newly chew holes in the dogs body as the fireflies spewed out in a thick black cloud encompassing first the entire dog from within as well as without. In minutes the dog was nothing but bone, and that too was disappearing before their very eyes as the swarm devoured its prey. Soon to turn upon three smaller perhaps just as tasty morsels

The trio were now a gracious distance away from the buffet, the buzzing and occasional glow from the fireflies ahead of them was both a beautiful and disturbing display. Sumi, blinking her large yellow eyes, couldn't keep her eyes off the swarm. "What. The. FUCK just happened...?!" She remarked, her glow pale.

Ryst looked unphased, simply glancing from the gruesome scene to his breathless companions, and lastly to Sumi's face as she hung on his shoulder. "...Right, they're carnivorous little buggers. Forgot how voracious they can be..." he says, glancing back to the scene. The bones of the beast were now beginning to vanish as well. "Makes a world of difference without the armor I must say..." He says, with a little bemusement. "They can't bite through the thick armor we wear out here on patrols." He shrugged. He suddenly knelt down on a knee, and stroked his chin with his 'good hand'. "Hmm... catching them will be tricky indeed." He mumbled, ignoring the pair's remarks.

When Akari caught her breath, she glared daggers into Ryst's direction! "What do you mean 'you forgot'? How did you know about any of this and conveniently 'forget' about it till we're nearly at death's door?!" She harshly screamed. She pointed at the dead creature offhandedly. "You expect me to believe you knew this was a possible result, and failed to tell about it to us? You sure they didn't cut your arm off because you were stupid or something?!" She panted, her chest heaving as she breathed heavily. Ryst seemed to ignore her, hunkered down, and even the fast talking Sumi was silent. She frowned, and glanced back to the beast, feeling slightly bad for it. "...what do we do now? That swarm will kill us quicker than that dog... thing. How do you catch something like that?!"

Re: Western Forest
And the swarm grew, and grew, and grew, as it came closer with the last echoes of the three and a tail headed dog's pitiful mourning howl fading into the distance. The buzzing of the swarm became even greater than before now that the mass of it's previous meal no longer blocked out the menacing sounds of hungry carnivorous fireflies.
And what strategy would a swarm the size of a massive dog need where pure numbers, and voracious appetites were the driving force behind all of its actions?

Sumi all the while, observed the situation closely rather than berate her slave. She watched the creatures glowing bright as they feasted, and noticed how the insects upon eating their fill, 'paired up' hence the bright glow. They'e fucking... they eat and mate... such primitive little things. Hm... they seem to be attracted by the glow... I wonder.... She thought, while running her fingers through Ryst's hair as she came up with a bold, yet idiotic plan.

Sumi smirked. "Well it's not the most sane of ideas, but without anything to contain the little mindless creatures, I suggest that I draw them in with my glow and I'll stun them with my bioelectricity, I just have to fine tune my 'zap' to be a sensation similar to when they're in mating mode~" She hummed, before hopping off Ryst and began to put her plan in action, her body glowing with an attractive glow!

The water splashed out, and he tossed it to Akari. "Get angry." He commanded her, hoping her heat would vaporize what water remained in the canteen she held.

Re: Western Forest
Akari was already dumbfounded by Ryst's overtly nonchalant nature that she just stood there, quiet, and with mouth agape in shock. This... isn't real, are they seriously..?!
"Wha?! How is that at ALL a good idea?! How-why do you like it?! How CAN ANY OF THIS POSSIBLY WORK?!" She screamed!
Akari was snapped to reality when the canteen flew at her face, gripping the steel container before blinking at Ryst who told her to get angry. She dented the metal container, steam rising from within it from the left over water. "I'M ALREADY ANGRY!!" She screamed, throwing the hot canteen back at him!
