Flooded Corridors
From here
The lift descended to the B5 Level, which brought her officially out of the Security Center's vision save for the motion sensors hooked up. Her job was to make sure they were running efficiently, still wired and also eliminate any excess fiends built up in the abandoned subterranean city. As soon as she stepped off, the overhead and subway lights flickered on, showing off the uniquely pristine tile floor in a flooded corridor.
It was only one of a few sections still in decent shape after 18 years, looking rather untouched by time save some rust spots and faded paint here and there. She knew, however, deeper within that the corridors got vastly more wider, and more decrepit looking. She steps into the pool that rises to her ankles, her combat boots treading water as she walks through the corridor. The water is freezing, and the air smelled heavily of mold and salt... but she would be fine. She takes a look around, and inspects the motion sensors before she raises the radio to her lips after unbuckling it from her hip. "Ooba reporting in. Area 1 is secure. No damage."
There is a crackle of static, before a static drowned man's voice replies: "Acknowledged, Booba. Continue with the inspection."
She blinked for a moment. "...Ooba." She corrected, but got no response back. Sighing, she continues the routine as scheduled.
There is nothing amiss in the Metro section of the Foundation, so she reports her findings and decides to head up a level, using the railing to keep herself from slipping as she walked up the stairwell which became a trickling waterfall the past five or so years since the sea tore through and flooded one of the sections. All sorts of critters got in because of it too...
Speaking of, as she reached the 'street level' she noticed something moving down the end of the flooded corridor:
Shizuka kept vigilant, right hand griping the blade, as she waited for the creature to turn the corner...
It was an odd... thing. She wasn't exactly sure what it was, perhaps a lobster that got a little too close to the chemicals Tenik used to store deeper within the Foundation... but now the thing was the size of a mini van and could probably eat one out of spite.
"Contact." She says calmly into her radio, drawing the full length of her Scardian Steel blade. She waited for the creature, who began to indicate a charge as if it were a bull. Ooba slips the radio back onto her hip, and smirks.
"Acknowledged."
The creature charges with a shrill, inhuman cry as it charged her! Its odd, glowing green eyes flaring as it charged her down!
With a single slash and slight side step, the creature was dead, the crimson blood spraying away from her body this time it seemed. She was used to being lathered in blood though, kinda came with the territory.
"Creature Eliminated. Will make full report of its appearance in handbook. Advancing into the Dead Zone, will return at 0800 hours tomorrow at latest." She explained. Beyond this corridor where she would be heading into the larger 'street' the radio would become useless.
"Acknowledged. Happy Hunting Booba."
"It's Ooba." she replied quickly but softly.
Again... no response. She shrugged, clipping the radio back to her belt again and continued forth.
