The scent of sea water was more intense as she headed onto the main street, which rushed like a torrential river. The roaring of the flowing water made it impossible to listen to the radio, and as it was, the barrier of steel and concrete would eventually turn everything into garbled white noise anyway.

She took the causeway, the grated steel sidewalk like structure installed when the Casino was undergoing construction. It seemed fine enough, despite the lack of guide rails. She could see the spirits of the dead flittering in and out of the darkness, and the large bus and trolleys that were left to rust in the salty water. Subway lights only illuminated so much, so with her flashlight in hand, she began to shine its beam across the walls, and then the ceiling where the hole was that started this flooding five years ago. "Well, that's your problem." She says to herself, but some ghastly apparition may have found it funny.

The city of the Tri-City State... George! George was the third ward she couldn't remember! They were named after Alexander Tenik, and she didn't remember why Hamilton and George... probably others who helped build it up in the 2300's. She wasn't the history type really... but she found it interesting the TCS was this modern marvel of man made island that housed nearly a nation's worth of people, all Tenik affiliated. It was an odd plate structured city that looked like a metallic tree out at sea, perhaps mimicking the Elvish Tree of Life, Alexander Tenik the Great was half elven as most knew so its design made sense. The top branches were for CEOs, executive officers and Alexander himself but he never did get to move into his treehouse if she recalled... the middle section was for upper tier employees to the company, and the bottom tier was the general population, workers, and middle management... it was also where she was standing now.

She looked around, the light's beam falling upon abandoned shops and stores which lined the cosway, while others regurgitated water that fed into the river that was once the main road. Above her were one of the said plates she mentioned, which fell during the wars 18 years ago... she recalled them rather vividly, as she was around then. Hmm... this place is like a skeleton... the Silver Craft being the spider lilies blooming from the ribs of the corpse...

She closed her pale blue eyes, and breathed in the foul air gently. She reopened her eyes, and turned the light down the pathway when her beam picked up the remains of a road still left mostly intact.

She walked down it, picturing what it looked like in its hay day before the entire structure collapsed... and could faintly recall it:

A line of bars, open air stands... brothels and strip clubs freely advertising... a sin city in a single street. She didn't realize she had closed her eyes till she felt hot air against her face.

When she reopened her eyes, a grotesque figure was standing before her in the ruins of the former pleasure street! It was seemingly blind, hence why it didn't attack, but it seemed to be catching on to her standing in front of its face... She noted there were a few more shambling up ahead, and slowly began to raise her blade...

The creature twitched its head violently, its mandible maw yawning with a loud shriek before it wildly swung its mutilated right arm at her! She had began to swing her blade, but used it to block at the last second, and it didn't do too well as she was disarmed of her katana and thrown into one of the side stores, breaking glass as she tumbled through the storefront! Slimy cardboard boxes, half melted from the water damage that incurred for the last 18 years broke her fall, or rather simply disintegrated upon her landing on them. She shifted her body across the grimy floor, as the noise drew the slimy Ooze monsters over to her.

Well... they caught me off guard, I'll give them that. She thought, rolling sideways, under the store counter and then stood back onto her feet.

She drew her combat knife from her belt, and waited for the creatures to get closer. She was faster and a little stronger than them, these parasitic creatures that utilized the bodies of deceased citizens... they were stage one, easier to kill since they were fleshy yet... stage two they wore coral like armor... she didn't know where they come from, if they were from this planet or from the demon realm, but she was very sure they needed to die.

"Hyaaah!" Ooba cried out, hoping to draw more in, grabbing the shoulder of the creature trying to climb through the window to get at her! She pushed its face down into a jagged piece of pane glass still embedded into the lower eve of the window, before she forced her weight down onto it, skewering it through its skull whilst also vaulting over it and back into the street again. There were about five of the mutant looking creatures shambling towards her now, and she dispatched one with a swift reverse grip slice with her knife across its neck as she powered through them! She felt a blow to her back, and she turned, swinging her leg into the creature, causing it to stumble back! She felt the saw tooth like teeth embedded into its mutilated arm dig against her skin and tear into her fabric before launching way.

Ooba was undaunted however, and swung her knife in the reverse grip into another Ooze's head, twisted, then yanked it out, before turning to the three man group, bloody blade at the ready:

The remaining creature's spasm and shutter, shambling towards her with sucker tube like tongues drooping from their mouths. She remembered the last time she was down here with one of the Security team guys, one of these creatures grabbed him with its 'tongue' and sucked his head off his shoulders... it wasn't a pretty sight. She shuffled in her step, keeping a trained eye on the three as well as for any new arrivals... when she saw her katana. Quickly she ran for it, feeling one of the creatures grab her, but she shook it off instantly with a direct stab to its neck and pushed it with her knife still embedded into its slimy flesh! She slid over to her sword as another lunged in an awkward fashion towards her, but with a swing of her sword, she removed their knees from their thighs! Blood sprayed everywhere as she pushed herself immediately back onto her feet, and successfully blocked the club-like arm of the ooze she stabbed in the neck, before turning it into a parry, pushing the creature off and then stabbed through its face and tubular tongue before it could latch onto her head; crimson ichor splashed across her body!

She withdrew her sword as the last leapt at her in a pathetic yet creepy manner, and with a simple swing of her blade the creature was sliced in half, down the middle, from head to crotch. Organs and fleshy bits flew left and right of her as it rained crimson for a moment... She let out a sigh, and readjusted her stance when she felt the last one, grabbing at her ankle. Looking down, the monster whose knees she had removed had managed to crawl over to her, its freaky face opening wide, its long tongue extending out to slither up her leg when she slams the katana's tip through its skull, twisted till she heard a loud pop, before yanking the blade out. The beast fell dead like the others, and she stood there, like a bloody pale ghost in the darkness of a necropolis.

Shizuka Ooba flicked the blood from her katana, and yanked up her combat knife from the corpse of the Ooze, and continued down the street, checking the motion equipment. She was getting closer to the security team's anomaly, some sort of large creature they suggested. She cleaned her combat knife's blade, and slid the shorter blade back into its sheath, keeping a firm grip on the hilt of her oriental blade however. She was sure she'll be needing it soon...
